Trentino’s historic Grappa distilleries take part in a travelling show through the streets of Santa Massenza

From December 6th to 8th, the enchanting village of Santa Massenza in Vallelaghi, renowned for its artisanal grappa production, will host the much-anticipated event "La Notte degli Alambicchi Accesi" (The Night of the Fired Stills). This evocative theatrical event, conceived by the Koinè company, unfolds in five stages, each hosted by one of the local distilleries, promising to lead participants on a discovery of the secrets of Trentino grappa through a unique and engaging experience.

Immersed in the magic of the Christmas atmosphere, Santa Massenza, known as the "capital of artisanal grappa," will be the scene of this unmissable event. The festival, now in its new edition, remains a true cult event for enthusiasts and the curious from all over Italy who flock to the village to witness the itinerant show that narrates the history and traditions of Trentino distillation. The allways sold-out event is organized by the cultural association “Santa Massenza piccola Nizza de Trent,” Garda Dolomiti, with the support of Trentino Marketing and the Grappa Protection Institute of Trentino. The five distilleries participating in the event—Giovanni Poli, Casimiro, Francesco, Giulio & Mauro, and Maxentia—will open their doors to visitors, who will be divided into groups and guided by the narrative voice of Patrizio Roversi, a well-known TV personality. Each stage includes a brief tasting of grappas, with performances scheduled for December 6th and 7th at 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM, and on Sunday, December 8th, shows at 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

Grappa production in Santa Massenza adheres to strict rules set by the Trentino Grappa Protection Institute, including the exclusive use of fresh local pomace and distillation using the traditional “bain-marie” method in batch stills. This artisan technique, passed down through generations, ensures a slow and even distillation that enhances aromas and preserves the freshness of the pomace. Participating in "La Notte degli Alambicchi Accesi" is a must-experience for grappa lovers and those interested in Trentino culture, as well as an excellent opportunity to discover this fascinating corner of Trentino.

This year, spectators will be divided into 5 groups of a maximum of 40 people each, totaling 200 people per show: each participant, equipped with headphones, will be guided by the unmistakable narrative voice of host Patrizio Roversi through the five historic distilleries of the village, which will thus become the unique stage for the five episodes that make up the show.
