A walk through the cultivations of Nosiola, an indigenous grape variety of the Valle dei Laghi whose grapes are dried on special racks (called arèles) to produce Vino Santo Trentino.
The hike takes us through the Nosiola vineyards, cultivated in this part of the Valle dei Laghi to produce Vino Santo. The first part of the route takes us towards the village of Padergnone and then along the lake of Santa Massenza through the area’s characteristic dry stone walls and terraces. You then continue, to discover Santa Massenza, a village where several distilleries produce grappa. Next, follow the trail towards Lake Toblino, where its waters are overlooked by a castle that offers the perfect backdrop for some beautiful snapshots. Once you reach the village of Sarche, continue towards Ponte Oliveti alongside the vineyards, which also continue on the promontory towards Calavino, where the last part of the trail unwinds. The last part of the route ends with the descent back to Due Laghi.

During the hike there are many opportunities to taste local wine at some of the local wine cellars. We recommend a visit to Casa Caveau, an old drying room converted into a museum.

You need to wear the right clothing and take the proper gear when you go hiking in the mountains. Even on relatively short easy outings make sure to take all you need so you don't run into trouble if things take an unexpected turn, for example a storm blows up or you have a sudden drop in energy levels.
What should you take when you go on a hike?
Your rucksack (for a day trip a 25/30L capacity should do) should contain:
Make sure you're wearing the right footwear for the trail and season. The going can get rough and rocky underfoot and a pair of hiking boots will protect you from sprains. When wet, a grassy slope, rocky slab or steep trail can be dangerous unless you are wearing the proper footwear.
And finally... don't forget to bring your camera! You'll need it to capture the stunning views you come across all over Garda Trentino. And if you like, you can share your memories with us at #GardaTrentino.
