A route through the Bleggio Superiore area characterised by the narrow lanes of farming villages and expanses of cultivated fields.
Signage: 946. Val Marcia Trail - Tour
Val Marcia, located south of Bleggio and enclosed between Monte Altissimo and Monte Cogorna, is traversed by the Duina torrent and the small tributaries that feed it. A wild valley that presents us with an unspoilt environment full of many beauties.
The medium demanding route starting from Santa Croce is characterised by different types of terrain, alternating between asphalt, dirt road and nature trail.
We pass through several villages, including Rango and Balbido, the former is one of the ‘Most Beautiful Villages in Italy’ while the latter is known for its murals painted on the village houses... a pit-stop is definitely worth it.
We set off again and enter the heart of Val Marcia, reaching the highest point of this tour, now it's time to enjoy the descent that takes us back to our starting point!

· Technical Difficulty: riding skill level needed
· Endurance: combined effect of length, uphill and downhill
· Wilderness: amount of planning required based on mobile phone reception, rescue options, water supply and wildlife
· Exposure: consequences of a fall

We set off from Santa Croce to continue and get to know the villages that characterise Bleggio. After arriving in Balbido and visiting the village, we enter the heart of Val Marcia: we take the forest road that enters the forest and continues past Tovo Carpenè and shortly afterwards, once we reach the bend, the return begins, which will first lead us to the highest point of this trail and then the descent that will take us back to Santa Croce.
The area around Bleggio is connected by the intercity bus lines 211 (Riva del Garda - Tenno - Fiavè - Ponte Arche) and 210 (Trento - Ponte Arche - Campiglio – Tione) to the other places in Garda Trentino.
From Ponte Arche/Comano Terme continue towards Bleggio until you reach Santa Croce (4 km).
Free parking in front of the town hall.
Riding your bike requires specific clothing and equipment, even for relatively short and easy trips. It is always better to be prepared… e.g. for bad weather or a sudden drop in your energy levels. The unexpected things are part of the fun!
Remember to thoroughly evaluate the type of route you plan on doing, the locations you intend to cross and the current season. Has it been raining? Attention: The paths may be slippery and require more caution.
