Christmas is the event of the year that is most represented by different symbols, and among these the best known, most admired and most representative is the nativity scene.
The Castle of Drena, symbolic place of its namesake municipality, a place of culture and memory enhancement, will host, for the entire Advent period, nativities entirely handmade by skilled artisans who carry on a tradition that is hundreds of years old. It will be an exhibition that induces visitors not only to appreciate the skill and inventiveness of the builders, but also the variety and creative richness with which this tradition is lived in the different areas of our country.
An itinerant route through the walls and halls of the ancient manor where we can admire works from Val Gardena, Trentino and Greccio, the ancient village where in 1223 St. Francis of Assisi, Patron Saint of Italy, created the first living nativity scene.
The ancient manor is filled with the atmosphere of Christmas, the scents, colours and suggestions that this time gives us every year and that tell the wonderful story of the Nativity. Not only nativity scene but also dance, music, singing and ancient crafts are the artistic proposals that will accompany us during these Advent weekends spent within the castle walls.
From the entrance to the castle to the inner rooms, we will meet dancers who will accompany us along an itinerant route guided by the sinuous narration of bodies, by musicians who with their Beganate, the Christmas carols, will narrate the Nativity, by artisans of ancient crafts who with their work will tell the story of the traditions of rural communities.
