Our Venue
The Circolo Tennis Arco club was founded in the early ‘50s and began its activities modestly at the only court then existing in Arco, in the park beside Viale delle Palme. The club quickly grew, and the court was therefore soon enhanced with lighting for night-time play, doubled in size a few years later and, in the early ‘70s, covered with an airdome to enable winter use.
To appreciate the forward-looking approach of the Circolo’s directors, even in those days, it should be remembered that, for two winters, the Arco airdome had night-time bookings as well, being the first one ever in the province and the second in the Region after Merano.
In the meantime, tournaments flourished, the best-known and long-running being the Città di Arco, now dedicated to the memory of Mario Comperini, a coach and player who helped raise the level of tennis in this town.
Since 1999, Circolo Tennis Arco has been located in a new venue, built by the Town Council on Via Pomerio next to the football stadium.
It has four tennis courts - two Mapecoat TNS ones which are permanently covered and two clay ones on which an airdome is assembled in winter - and a squash court.
We have a very well-attended tennis school directed by national expert Andrea Stoppini, supported by national coach Giacomo Fratton and instructors Sabrina Calvagni and Alessandra Versini.
In 2020, work began on renovating the venue with extension of the club house, new changing rooms, a gym, offices for the management and new tennis school, and construction of two covered padel courts, all of which was completed in early 2021 and the new venue is now fully operational.
The Club House
The Circolo’s new club house is extremely spacious, much more so than the previous one. Alongside the large bar area, we have a multi-purpose hall with TV, a much more modern kitchen, two bathrooms and offices for the coaches and management.
