rivers and streams

running waters and fishing spots

With a river that in 2018 hosted the 38th World Fly Fishing Championships; numerous streams, irrigation ditches and brooks; a wide array of fish species and a backdrop of wild scenery – Garda Trentino is a land made for fishing. Along its watercourses can be found spots suitable for every level of skill, from novices to more experienced anglers. And, thanks to its mild climate, you can fish all year round in Garda Trentino! So what are you waiting for? Grab your gear and get fishing!

river Sarca

Offering 80 kilometres of fishing heaven, the River Sarca springs from the glaciers of the Adamello-Presanella group and flows directly into Lake Garda. The upper part of the river is Alpine in character, with vegetation-lined banks, clear waters, rapids and rock formations – the ideal habitat for brown and marble trout. Prepare your natural bait, as the colours of these wild trout will amaze you! From the Forra del Limarò the river winds its way along a wide, flat valley floor, perfect for a relaxing day’s fishing in natural surroundings! Along the River Sarca there are ten NO KILL zones where you can practice fly fishing and spinning. In addition to various species of salmonid, the waters are also home to grayling, chub and other white species. Two associations share responsibility for the river: from Comano to the Forra del Limarò it is managed by the anglers of the Associazione Pescatori Dilettanti Alto Sarca <LINK: https://www.altosarca.it/>, while the stretch closer to the rivermouth is managed by the Associazione Pescatori Dilettanti Basso Sarca.

Rimone stream

With a flow rate that varies from 90 m3/s to 10 m3/s: the Rimone is an artificial canal that connects Lake Toblino with Lake Cavedine. The stream bed is quite flat, with very wide stretches featuring holes that may be several metres deep. The Rimone totals only 3 km in length – but there are plenty of good spots for a day’s fishing! In addition to trout and pike, whitefish, grayling and other white species can also be found in the Rimone. Both mice-tail and wet-fly techniques can be used for catching grayling in these waters; but note that, on the Rimone, there is a NO KILL zone dedicated exclusively to fly fishing! For further advice see the website of the Associazione Pescatori Dilettanti Basso Sarca.
