A traditional village festival with something extra that is as tasty as it is unique: “caponec” and “livanze”, two gastronomic specialities that can only be enjoyed in Valle di Ledro.
“Caponec” are a mix of bread, chard, egg and lucanica sausage meat, wrapped in vine leaves and boiled; “livanze” are soft, sweet pancakes, served with jam and a sprinkling of icing sugar. Both are simple but incredibly tasty dishes that the people of Valle di Ledro – and visitors who have come to know them over the years – wait to enjoy at the summer festivals, when volunteers prepare them, carefully following the traditional recipes.
And when it comes to tradition... The recipes for “livanze” come from Bohemia and were imported into Valle di Ledro after the Great War, when the people who had been evacuated during the fighting returned to their homes, bringing new recipes with them.
