The feelings in front of this natural spectacle are hard to describe. It is better that you see this rock arch with your own eyes: gigantic dimensions, echo, and roaring waterfalls make the route an unforgettable experience.

Difficulty level: T (tourist path)
From the square of Stenico follow the red-white signs of the SAT Alpine Club 346. The route is narrow, steep, and goes straight up. After a while, it merges into an old mule track. On the right you see fields and on the left Stenico castle. Now the path winds through the forest and after about ten meters you arrive at „La Croce“, a place with a few houses and a sanctuary with a new stone cross. Now you reach an asphalt road and see a wooden sign „strada forestale Plaz" – the Plaz forest road. Continuing you reach the "Rio dei Molini" river, which you cross over the bridge. Now turn right and follow the SAT 346 path towards „L’Arca di Fraporte“.
Now you go up and the path passes near a large ox (Coel delle contesse). You then climb up to 1000 meters, where the landscape at the foot of the slopes becomes increasingly arid and the rocks seem to obstruct the path. And it won't be long until you see the impressive rock formation: the rock arch „L’arca di Fraporte“ with its 42 meters in length, 49 meters in height, and about 66 meters in width.
The return is on the same path as the outward journey.
The Comano area is connected via regional transport by bus lines 211 (Riva del Garda - Tenno - Fiavè - Ponte Arche) and 201 (Trento - Ponte Arche - Campiglio – Tione) with other places in Garda Trentino. Line 208 connects Ponte Arche to Stenico.
From Ponte Arche/Comano Terme follow the road towards Stenico (3.5 km).
Parking outside the village of Stenico, near the Rio Bianco waterfall, or at the entrance of BoscoArteStenico.
Hiking in the mountains requires specific clothing and equipment. Even during rather short and simple walks, you should always carry everything necessary to avoid unpleasant surprises and to be prepared in case of emergencies, such as sudden storms or a sudden drop in condition.
What should you definitely take with you during mountain hikes?
In the backpack (for day hikes a backpack with a capacity of 25-30 liters is normally recommended) you should have:
Footwear suitable for the route and season. Many trails are uneven and rugged. Shoes should therefore reach above the ankle to offer good support and protect from sprains and twists. Grassy slopes, rock slabs, or steep trails can quickly become slippery in case of rain without adequate footwear.
And of course, don't forget... a camera to capture your route. This way you can take home as a souvenir the unique panorama you can enjoy in every corner of Garda Trentino. If you want to share your memories with us: hashtag #GardaTrentino.
