The great jazz pianist and composer Bill Evans tragically passed away on 15 September 1980, yet his notes and magic remain absolutely alive. His immortality is celebrated today by the legendary Puerto Rican double bass player Eddie Gomez, who played with Evans for 11 years from ‘66 to ’77, and by the American drummer Joe La Barbera, who recorded no fewer than 16 albums with the iconic pianist and composer in the very last years of his life. One only has to scroll through the list of Gomez's collaborations or discographies (with Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Goodman, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Michel Petrucciani) and La Berbera (with Art Pepper, John Scofield, Phil Woods, John Abercrombie, Tony Bennett, Jim Hall) to realise that we are dealing with the elite of jazz music.
